‘Motivated’, ‘fun’, ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘cool’ are just a few of the words pupils from Ysgol Gyfun Llanhari School have used to describe their 5x60 officer Gethin Smart.
The music is thumping an infectious Latin American beat. The sweat is pouring as the crowd, moving as one, shimmies and shakes, weaves and waves. It could be Havana but, in fact, it’s Wales. This is Zumba, the fitness dance craze that has taken Wales by storm.
The school has been awarded School of the Month– an accolade handed out by Sport Wales’ 5x60 scheme, which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and run locally by Flintshire Council.
